CCFA Walk Coming Up - I need your help!

I'm not sure if I've mentioned it here before or not, but almost three years ago now my husband, Brandon, was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. In case you don't know what Crohn's is, it is a VERY painful condition with very unpleasant symptoms. (Read about it here)
Right now, there is no cure. And in some cases, the treatment is worse than the disease. There are days when he can barely walk because the medication makes his joints hurt so bad. But without the medication, he would spend all of his time in bed, or in the bathroom. (NOT fun)

So, why am I writing about this here, now?

On May 22nd at 5:00pm, we will be participating in the Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis Walk at Tempe Town Lake. Take Steps is the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA)'s national evening walk and celebration and the nation's largest event dedicated to finding cures for digestive diseases. It is a casual 2-3 mile stroll to raise money for crucial research, bringing us closer to a future free from Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Over 1.4 million American adults and children are affected by these digestive diseases. While many suffer in silence, Take Steps brings together this community in a fun and energetic atmosphere, encouraging them to make noise and be heard.

How can you help?

1. If you live close, you can join us at the walk! Learn about it here
2. You can buy a Zadyball. From now through May 22nd, I will be donating 30% of all Zadyball sales to CCFA.
3. You can help us meet our goal of raising $250 for this cause. See Brandon's Page here

Thank you so Very much for your support!

April Fools Day!

I had fun playing a couple of pranks on my kids on April Fool's Day this year. I think it was the first time that they really "got" it, so it was a good time!

First, while Zander was at school, I made "play-doh" for the kids to play with... and told them to eat it! It was a fun treat! (Here's the recipe)

Then, for dinner, I told the kids we were having CUPCAKES! They were excited, and couldn't believe that Mom would actually let them have a treat for dinner! Don't they look yummy?

I also fixed some special drinks for them. They thought we were having some red punch. Here we are getting ready to eat. I think the kids figured that something was up when I started snapping pictures. It took some coaxing to get them to eat.

"Hey! What is this? Why won't my drink come out of my cup?"

It's JELLO! April Fools!

Now, how about those cupcakes??

Not exactly what he was expecting! It was actually MEATLOAF with mashed potatoes on top! Believe it or not, it was rather tasty. But it didn't taste anything like a cupcake! The kids ended up liking it and the jello made up for not having "real" cupcakes.
Happy April Fools!
